Description:
Position Purpose:
Utilizing strong leadership skills while advancing a team approach, the incumbent will be responsible for new or improved designs throughout the Port Colborne plant. This position also involves training of staff in project progressions, start up assistance and communication for all modifications made in the plant. The person will also be responsible for documentation control of all P&ID drawings and to update and keep current all process training manuals.
Key Result Areas:
1.Act as liaison between Engineering and Operations.
2.Develop preliminary designs, cost estimates and project coordination for all activities related to project work in the plant. This includes sourcing P&ID drawings, bidding of jobs, project constructions, operator training and communication, project commissioning.
3.Update and keep current all process training manuals and assist in training if plant operating personnel on new and existing procedures.
4.Provide project management and/or technical support to Port Colborne division as required to ensure optimum technology and implementation. This involves effective communication and coordination with one or more functions such as ensuring cost effectiveness, managing/supervising external contractors/resources and negotiations with suppliers.
5.Review and evaluate proposed projects ensuring optimum technology, complete scope of work and follow up.
6.Maintain the company’s environmental and safety standards including pre-start reviews and commissioning, training and design manuals and appropriate records retention.
7.Manage drawing and filing system of plant drawings including P&ID’s, line and loop
Selection Criteria:
Selection Criteria
1.Knowledge and understanding of corn wet milling industry an asset.
2.Experience in development & design of projects/permits and construction supervision.
3.Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve facility design issues, operational improvement, equipment failures, and maintenance troubleshooting.
4.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present results and prepare concise written reports and the ability to train personnel.
5.Demonstrated skill or ability to learn computer based word processing, spreadsheet database and engineering software.
6.Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with process operators and external contractors.
7.P.Eng or working towards with a Bachelors degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. Previous experience in project management will be considered an asset.
